A reprint of the essay first published in 1923 as a preface to the 'The Tragedy of Mr. Punch' by Thorndike & Arkell. It pleads for an unregenerated Mr P, rather than a reformed character suitable for performing for Boy Scouts and other virtuous children. A ten page 'labour of love', nicely presented in decorated cream card cover, it includes some notes and a coloured frontispiece by A Watts.
